Welcome to Digital Printing 101
Digital printing is the "instant print" option of the modern world. Instead of making metal plates like offset printing, we send your file straight to the press — like a professional version of hitting "print" on your home printer, but with top-quality results. This makes digital printing fast, flexible, and perfect for small or personalized projects.
Why Digital Printing is Different
Traditional offset printing is best for very large runs, where the cost of making plates is spread over thousands of copies. Digital printing removes plates entirely, which means:
- You can print small quantities cost-effectively
- You can print several versions of the same piece in one run
- You can get your job done quickly — sometimes the same day
Think of it like this: offset printing is the big factory run, and digital printing is the boutique, on-demand service.
Perfect Situations for Digital Printing
- Small Runs: Need 250 booklets? No problem.
- Personalized Messages: Add customer names, cities, or unique offers to every piece.
- Tight Deadlines: When you need it this week — not next month.
- Prototypes & Market Tests: Try out your design or campaign before committing to thousands of copies.
Our Digital Printing Powerhouse
Hudson Printing uses some of the most advanced presses in the country:
- Two Landa S10P Nanographic Presses (7-color): These big presses handle sheets up to poster size (29.5" × 41.3"). They're lightning-fast and can match more colors than typical CMYK presses.
- HP Indigo 18K (B2): Known for vibrant, photo-quality output.
- HP Indigo 7800: Great for smaller pieces and specialty work.
- Two HP Indigo 7250w (Web-Fed): Perfect for long rolls of digital printing — great for continuous forms and mailing projects.
All presses are calibrated to G7 standards — an industry benchmark that keeps colors consistent from job to job.
What is Extended Gamut (7-Color) Printing?
Most printing uses four colors — Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK). Our Landa presses add Orange, Green, and Blue to cover more of the color spectrum. That means we can hit brand colors that would normally need expensive custom inks.
Good to Know: This premium process takes extra setup and cost, so we recommend it when exact brand color is a must.
