SUMMARY

Responsible for buying goods, equipment, and services for company. Negotiates the best deal for the company and ensures safe transportation of the product.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; solicit bid proposals and review requisitions for goods and services.

Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.

Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.

Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.

Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up undelivered goods.

Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.

Negotiate, or renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives. Ask vendors for promotional prices and incentives.

Interview vendors and visit suppliers’ plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services and prices.

Study current inventory levels and determine what is needed.

Authorize payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation. Arrange the payment of duty and freight charges.

Check machines to see if they need to be repaired or replaced and purchase equipment accordingly.

Identify foreign and domestic suppliers and vendors.

Formulate policies and procedures for bid proposals and procurement of goods and services.

Bindery Machine Operator

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Operators are be responsible for all setup of bindery machines, including cutters, folders, saddle stitchers and perfect binders, as well as overseeing their operation, assuring quality control throughout the run. Operators are also responsible for leading and training their crews, and for performing basic maintenance on the machines.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE

We’re looking for people with at least 2-years of experience as an operator – or extremely fast learners with mechanical aptitude and good problem solving skills.

Must speak, understand, read and write English, so you can read job tickets and other vital documents, to receive and understand instructions, and to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires standing for long periods of time on concrete floors, but it’s usually warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We work 12-hour shifts Sunday-Tuesday and alternating Wednesday, or Thursday-Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 8-hour shifts 6:00 P.M. to 2:30 A.M , Monday-Friday. May be required to work additional hours and/or days, sometimes including holidays.

Bindery Crew Member

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Involves a variety of activities associated with the finishing of printed products. This is a physically demanding job that involves frequent lifting of up to 100 pounds, repeated stooping, bending, twisting and turning. Assists on binders, cutters, folders, drills, and other equipment, and may be frequently change work stations. Performs a variety of activities including, shrink wrapping, hand stitching, hand collating, jogging, hand folding, hand gluing, boxing, banding and other difficult or complicated work!
